Matti Friedman

Winner of the 2014 Sami Rohr Prize, Matti Friedman’s work as a reporter has taken him from Lebanon to Casablanca, Cairo, Moscow and Washington, D.C., and to conflicts in Israel and the Caucasus. He has been a correspondent for the Associated Press, where he specialized in religion and archaeology in Israel and the Palestinian territories, as well as for The Jerusalem Report and The Times of Israel. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and elsewhere. Friedman is a Contributing Opinion Writer for the New York Times and a regular contributor to Tablet Magazine. Born in Toronto, he lives in Jerusalem.
