Roy Chen

Roy Chen is a writer, playwright, and translator.

Chen translated numerous classic fiction novels and plays from Russian, French and English to Hebrew, including works by Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Gogol, Moliere, Anouilh, Robert Icke and Stephen King. In 2023 he published a new translation of Milne’s classic WINNIE THE POOH. Since 2007 Chen has served as the house playwright at the Gesher Theater (Jaffa), where his plays are staged, among them ANOBODY HERE, FLOATING ISLAND, THE ODYSSEY, etc.


Author of novels SOULS (Keter, 2020) and GREAT UPROAR (Keter, 2023), Roy Chen is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Prime Minister's Prize for Hebrew Literary Works (2022) and S.Y. Agnon Prize for Literature (2023).

Chen was born in 1980 in Tel-Aviv where he currently lives with his wife and son.
